1 : The Surfaris
The Surfaris were a surf rock band formed in California the year 1962, and are best known for one song, "Wipe Out", perhaps the best-remembered instrumental songs of the period. They actually released a series of records, with only one other single, "Point Panic", having any impact on the charts.
