Metamorphosis is a music album by the pop singer Hilary Duff. It was released on August 26, 2003.
Making of the album
Metamorphosis was an appropriate title for an album that attempted to attract an older teenage audience as well as the tweens who had supported Hilary Duff's career to 2003. In order to do so, she recruited the Matrix, who had worked with Avril Lavigne and Liz Phair, to write and produce three songs on the album: "So Yesterday", "Where Did I Go Right" and "The Math".
Chart and Award Success
One of the Matrix songs, "So Yesterday", was released as the first single. It reached number 2 in Canada, the top 40 in Australia and just outside the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. "Metamorphosis" reached number one on the album charts in both the US and Canadian album charts.
Subsequent singles from the album include:
- "Come Clean" reached the top 10 in Canada, top 20 in Australia and New Zealand and top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100; and
- "Little Voice" reached the Australian Top 40 in May 2004.
Metamorphosis was nominated in the Juno Awards of 2004 for "International Album of the Year", but lost to 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin'.
